Jews Don’t Pray

The AlephBeta Academy presents “If God Knows All, Why Do We Pray?” an entertaining video course with Rabbi David Aaron.

Rabbi Aaron suggests that Jews don’t pray because PRAYER involves begging with the goal of changing God’s mind.

“Tefilah is the act of envisioning what we can be.  Rather than changing Hashem’s Will, we are channeling Hashem’s will through our own will.  Lehitpalel is something I’m doing to myself, and what am I doing to myself? I’m trying to get me to want what God wants, I’m trying to change my mind, and the more I change my mind and the more I want what Hashem wants, the more of what Hashem wants can come into this world.”
